Artisan Demonstration Hours: Saturdays and Sundays 1-4 pm, May through September

Join us every day at ‘Your Country Retreat” and Harford County’s Farm Museum! Seasonal weekends feature tours of the Historic Farm House, demonstrations of historical trades and folk arts and hands-on activities for children and families! Become a member for free admission for special events, pack a picnic lunch and enjoy a real step into the past and the beautiful Susquehanna State Park. Admission is by donation, suggested $5 for adults. *Hours and admission vary on special event weekends* You can also stop in the museum store to shop or purchase advance event tickets during weekend hours.

July 5th (Sunday)- Havre de Grace 4th of July Parade– Come on out to downtown Havre de Grace and see Steppingstone’s Float in the parade, then join us the next week for Summer Fun Day!
 July 12th (Sunday)- Summer Fun Day w/Lawnmower Races & Classy Car & Cycle Show with Antique Tractors– 11am to 4pm, Admission $10.00 for adults, children 12 & under and members free

This event will feature all things wheels! Enjoy a great family fun day with music; lawnmower racing; a car and motorcycle show; ice cream eating contest; face painting; kids crafts and games; food; and museum displays.  Fun for the whole family!

Collectors/ Restorers- plan to bring your classy car or cycle or antique tractor for the show!

Kids- Bring your bike or skates for the bike parade, come decorated or visit our decorating station to get ready for the parade!

Dance to the Oldies or enjoy an old fashioned soda at “The Hop” soda fountain!


September 26th & 27th (Saturday and Sunday)- Fall Harvest & Craft Festival – 11am to 4pm, Admission $10.00 for adults, children 12 & under and members free

This event will feature activities such as craft booths; scarecrow making; pumpkin painting; apple bobbing & pressing; apple butter making; hay rides; straw maze; petting zoo; Punch & Judy and magic shows; bluegrass and traditional music; food; and tours. The museum will be selling mums, apples, pumpkins, kettle corn, apple butter and more for your fall decorating and munching needs! Rain or shine event. Additional fees only for items you take home (scarecrows and pumpkins). All proceeds benefit the nonprofit Steppingstone Museum Association for support of educational programs and care of historic buildings and collections.


October 10th & 11th- 2015 Sat 10am-7pm & Sun 10am-6pm

 October 16th (Friday)Steppingstein (a refined Octoberfest celebration)– 6pm to 9pm, Admission by advance reservation only $30 regular, $40 VIP entry at 5pm

Join us for this special evening celebration of history and good taste. Enjoy a German meal, local German style beer from Gunpowder Fall Brewing Company and wine tasting, live music and plenty of polka dancing (with instruction included) while learning about the historic origins of this traditional celebration. VIP admission is an hour earlier with private polka lessons and a special presentation on the history of Octoberfest! We invite you to wear your leiderhosen or dirndl if they are historical and in good taste. Or wear your regency/federal era fashions in keeping with the first Oktoberfest!

October 30th (Friday)Tales and Treats with Heritage Museums of Havre de Grace– 6pm to 9pm, Admission by donation

Head into the Halloween night for special Tales and Treats at all of the Heritage Museums of Havre de Grace! Special programs, storytelling, and treats at the Concord Point Light House and Keeper’s House, the Havre de Grace Maritime Museum, Steppingstone Farm Museum, and the Susquehanna Museum at the Lock House, find the spooky side of history with each of our museums! Steppingstone will feature ghostly tales in story and song in the barn and a campfire with hot cider and smores for a fun hallows treat!


November 1st (Sunday)Witchy Woman Tea– 1pm and 3pm seatings, Admission $25.00

Learn about the history of Halloween and Witchcraft while enjoying afternoon tea in the Historic Farm House for a refined Halloween celebration. Join us at the lovely Steppingstone Farm House for afternoon Tea featuring Professional Storyteller and Historic Reenactor Alisa Dupuy. As this is a performance, doors will close promptly at starting time to not interrupt the program.

Tickets are $25, which includes your Afternoon Tea (hot tea, tea sandwiches, scones, and sweets), the Performance, an exciting glimpse of the past, and a donation to the museum.

*Seats are limited due to the size of the historic home, we will make every effort to seat groups together but tables are limited to 4-6 each so you may be seated with another party. The teas require attention for an hour and proper table manners and thus are not suitable for children under the age of 8 years. Your eventbrite confirmation is your receipt and places you on our seating list. We will contact you if we need clarification on your order or group size for seating purposes.  The historic stone farm house does NOT have public restroom facilities, please stop at the office or the main restrooms before or after the tea.  Please let us know if you need special accommodations for accessibility or seating. November 14th (Saturday)- Thanksgiving Open House with Open Hearth Cooking- 1pm to 4pm, Admission $5.00

Join us for an Open House and Open Hearth Cooking Demonstration in the historic farm house featuring Colonial period recipes. The Country Store will be open for all your Christmas shopping needs. Featuring locally crafted goods and some made by museum artisans. Find a truly unique gift this year at Steppingstone!


November 3rd- Artisans Raffle at the Annual Dinner and Volunteer Recognition- 6pm meeting, 7pm dinner

Join us for Steppingstone’s Annual Dinner and Volunteer Recognition. We will have a special speaker presentation along with the fellowship of our members and volunteers. We will also hold our annual business meeting, volunteer recognitions, and the drawing for the Artisan’s Raffle.

November 27th & 28th (Friday and Saturday)Victorian Holiday Faire– 11am to 4pm, Admission $10 adults

Join us for a Victorian Street Faire especially for the holidays!  Steppingstone brings history to life with the warmth and bustle of a Dickens Christmas with food vendors, local high quality handcrafts, live music and performances, and fun for the whole family! This event also features tours of the historic farmhouse decorated for the holidays and visits with a Victorian Santa!   Get in the Christmas spirit while you find a truly unique gift this year at Steppingstone!

November 28th (Saturday)Victorian Christmas Ball– 7pm, Admission TBD

Don we now our gay apparel and join in the dancing!  A party grand enough for old Fezziwig himself!  Come out for the Victorian Holiday Faire and then stay for the Christmas Ball in the newly renovated Carriage Barn.  Live music, festive holiday treats, and a grand party with Victorian dance await you.  Calling and floor management by the Victorian Dance Ensemble and Music by Kaydence.  All dances will be walked through and called, dress is Victorian or formal wear.  Tickets will be available discounted for students and non-dancers who just wish to enjoy the party and music.

November 29th (Sunday)Christmas Open House– 1pm to 4pm

No Admission Fee

This event will feature tours of the historic farmhouse decorated for the holidays;  Christmas music; cookies and cider; museum store open for shopping.  No admission charge for this event. The Museum Store will be open for all your Christmas shopping needs. Featuring locally crafted goods and some made by museum artisans. Find a truly unique gift this year at Steppingstone!


December 6th (Sunday)“A Christmas Carol” Tea– 1pm and 3pm seatings, Admission $25.00

Catch the spirit of the holidays early as Dickens comes to life with “A Christmas Carol” as told by Ebenezer Scrooge’s sister, Fan.  Join us at the lovely Steppingstone Farm House for a Victorian Tea featuring Professional Storyteller and Historic Reenactor Alisa Dupuy.  Tickets are $25, which includes your Afternoon Tea (hot tea, tea sandwiches, scones, and sweets), the Performance, a great dose of Christmas Spirit, and a donation to the museum. 2016 Season

March 19th (Saturday)- 28th Annual 50K HAT Run– 9am, Pre-registration only- Follow link for the HAT Run page!

Steppingstone Farm Museum thanks the Hinte-Anderson Trail Run and all of it’s volunteers including RASAC members for their many years of support for the museum and its programs.  The race is once a year but the impact of these wonderful volunteers is felt throughout the year, Thank You!

May 7th and 8th (Saturday and Sunday)- Opening Weekend– 1pm to 4pm, Admission $5.00 for adults, children 12 & under and members free

This weekend will feature the reopening of the shops with Artisan Demonstrations for the season, farm tours, and special activities as we kick off the start of Spring and another season of Artisan weekends!

May 10th (Sunday)- Mother’s Day Tea – 1pm and 3pm seating, Admission $25.00 This formal tea is a lovely treat for Mom, price includes tea with modern and medieval treats, a medieval through renaissance fashion show with historic music, and your admission to the Medieval Days event beforehand. As this is a performance, doors will close promptly at starting time to not interrupt the program.  Please arrive at the Stone Farm House between 12:45-1pm

Celebrate Celtic Heritage in the beautiful Highlands of Harford County!

Our annual celebration of Celtic Heritage, wear your green or tartan and come out to the museum for music, food, dancing and more!

Music by Kaydence, Carl Peterson Scottish Singer-Songwriter, and the Harford Highlanders Pipe Band!

Sunday Only: Irish Step dancing by Tir na nOg and the International Academy of Dance

June 20th (Saturday)- Steppingstone Summertime Blues Festival– 1pm to 8pm

 Admission ($25 in advance by 6/8/15) and $30 at the gate, Walk-ins are welcome!

The setting for this festival is our beautiful orchard overlooking the Susquehanna River.  Our visitors may enjoy beer, wine, and food while listening to some of the best entertainment in the area. Visit the Blues Fest link for the 2015 lineup and presale tickets.  This is an outdoor concert, rain or shine, with no refunds granted and no re-entry.  Bring a blanket or lawn chair but please DO NOT bring in alcoholic beverages or glass containers- coolers will be checked. Remember sunscreen and your Photo ID to purchase beer or wine. Credit available, cash recommended to avoid lines.

  1. There was not enough interest and the reenactors have no open weekends in their schedule. We are planning a Victorian Christmas Ball for next year with the Holiday Faire!

  2. We will have Highland Games this year and we are working to get Scottish food vendors back. Please let us know if you have any that are interested! We will also have Hurling this year, a high speed Irish field sport!
