Blacksmith

Step into history and keep a timeless trade alive!

At Steppingstone, our blacksmith shop isn’t just an exhibit—it’s a working forge where volunteers learn and practice traditional skills.

As a volunteer blacksmith, you’ll receive training, gain hands-on experience at the anvil, and help demonstrate this essential craft for museum visitors. Whether you’re brand new to blacksmithing or already have some skills, we welcome you to join our team.

Forge lasting connections, share history in action, and experience the satisfaction of carrying on
a tradition that shaped our community.

Woodworker

Bring history to life with your hands! At Steppingstone, our woodworking shop celebrates the traditional skills that built and sustained rural communities.

As a volunteer woodworker, you’ll have the opportunity to learn or practice classic woodworking techniques, share demonstrations with visitors, and help preserve a craft that has been vital for centuries.

Whether you’re an experienced carpenter or simply curious about the trade, there’s a place for you in the shop.

Join our team, pass on your passion, and help us keep the art of woodworking alive for future
generations.
